Blockchain, and Bitcoin, were created during an economical crisis. Bad decisions coming from banks and governments, agents of centralization, had created a global crisis that affected all people.
The use of blockchain allows the elimination of middlemen, giving freedom to the people to exchange information or assets, in a safe way, with no government or bank being able to turn a profitable exchange into a loss.
The difference is massive when it comes to developing countries, countries with a high level of poverty, or in the so-called third world.
Bitcoin was created for payment transactions, but blockchain can be used for many more things. There are already many blockchain based projects to share scientifical knowledge, health assistence, art and culture. And of course education.
